We have Buddy and Luka to thank for this one.On May 21, 2022, Emily brought Buddy out to a dog park here in Lubbock. Jacob was there with Luka. The dogs introduced themselves first, and by the time we had the leashes sorted out we were already deep in conversation. Neither of us was in any hurry to head home.Four years later, the crew has grown. Buddy now has Jacks and Remi to keep up with, and Addison the cat keeps an eye on all three of them.On October 17, 2026, we're getting married at The Kress, right here in the city where two dogs decided we should meet.

Built in 1932 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, The Kress is a restored downtown landmark on Broadway. Its brick walls, tall windows and wood floors give the whole evening a warm, unhurried feel — and because the ceremony and reception share the same building, no one has to move a car in between.

Getting There & Parking

The Kress sits on Broadway in the heart of downtown Lubbock, a short drive from Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport. Think cocktail dresses, jumpsuits, dress pants with a button-down or a sport coat. No need for a tux or a floor-length gown - just come polished and ready to celebrate. The ceremony and reception are both indoors at The Kress.

GETTING AROUNDThe Kress is in downtown Lubbock at 1109 Broadway St, an easy drive from anywhere in town.
